Using the Video Recording Features

Canon cameras apply different ISO and white balance settings depending on whether they're in camera mode or video/live view mode. To properly configure video recording, you must override camera mode settings and establish separate ISO and white balance configurations for each mode.

Access the Settings tab, navigate to Canon, and enable Override Camera Settings. Detailed guidance for this configuration is available in the Live View Feature article.

Burst Video

This feature leverages the camera's frame capture capability to generate videos from sequential images.

Recording Options

  • Time: Specify recording duration in milliseconds
  • Frames Per Second: Select your desired video frame rate
  • Recording Animation: Incorporate animations from the Video_Animations folder (C:\MirrorMeBooth\Video_Animations) or use a custom .png logo file
  • Show Live View: Display a real-time preview during recording
  • Enable Soundtrack: Attach a media file as background music
  • Enable Record Audio: Capture audio during recording
  • Merge Audio and Video: Combine audio and video into a single file saved in the event's final videos folder

Save Settings

  • Output WxH: Define video dimensions (maximum 960 x 640 for DSLR; default is 720x480)
  • Number Of Loops in Video: Control repetition cycles in the saved file
  • Add Boomerang Effect: Create reverse-frame sequences that double video length
  • Trigger Next State on Saved Video: Wait for file completion before advancing

Preview Settings

  • Preview Time: Control millisecond duration of video preview
  • Dynamic Overlay Folder: Enable guest selection between folders containing .PNG sequences for animated or static overlays

DSLR Video

This feature records "high-quality HD video with sound directly from the DSLR camera." An SD card is required.

Recording Options

  • Time: Set recording duration in milliseconds
  • Recording Animation: Use animations from Video_Animations folder or custom .png files

Save Settings

  • Trigger Next State on Saved Video: Pause workflow until file saves

Preview Settings

  • Preview WxH: Establish video preview dimensions
  • Preview Loops: Set repetition count in preview state

Tips: Use external LED constant lighting for optimal results. If live view appears too dark, reduce the aperture setting.
