How To Use The Motion Trigger

Legacy Article: This article covers the legacy FMBooth (Windows + iPadOS) software. FMBooth (Windows + iPadOS) has been replaced by FMX. See FMX documentation →

Overview

The motion trigger feature allows you to automatically start your workflow when movement is detected in front of your photo booth. This requires a webcam positioned in the same line of sight as your DSLR camera.

Setup Instructions

Step 1: Position Your Webcam

Place your webcam where it can see anyone approaching the booth. This could be mounted on top of the booth structure or positioned to the side, depending on your specific setup configuration.

Step 2: Configure Webcam in Settings

  1. Open the Settings tab in the software.
  2. Select "Webcam" from the available options.
  3. Verify your webcam appears in the list.
  4. If not visible, click "List Windows Webcams" and choose your device from the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Set Motion Trigger in Workflow

  1. Go to the Workflow tab.
  2. Select your desired animation for the initial state.
  3. In the "Trigger" column dropdown, choose "Motion".
  4. Save your preset.

How It Works

Once configured and started, your preset will automatically initiate the complete workflow whenever movement is detected in front of the booth. Users simply need to step into the booth's view to begin the experience.
