How to Use the Green Screen Feature

Legacy Article: This article covers the legacy FMBooth (Windows + iPadOS) software. FMBooth (Windows + iPadOS) has been replaced by FMX. See FMX documentation →

Setting the Background

To implement the green screen filter in FMBooth software, you'll need to add your background image through the layout design interface. Here's the process:

  1. Add the background image by clicking the [Photo+] icon and browsing for your desired background file.

  2. Layer properly by dragging and dropping the background layer behind the DSLR state in the layers list—the background photo state should be positioned above the DSLR element.

  3. Adjust sizing to your preferences; you can match the background size to your DSLR item, the full layout dimensions, or another custom size.

Important Setup Requirements

For optimal chroma key performance, the software requires:

  • A high-quality physical green screen backdrop
  • At least 2 continuous lighting points
  • Sufficient space to avoid shadows on the subject

Note: "The filter will be applied to the final preview of your photo and will not be applied to the raw preview."

Alternative Option

If you prefer not to use a physical green screen, FMBooth offers a Cloud AI Background Removal feature that eliminates the need for a physical backdrop entirely.

Multi-Photo Layouts

For presets containing multiple photos, you can assign different backgrounds to each individual photo as needed.
