Creating Custom Thumbnails Using the Windows Snipping Tool

Legacy Article: This article covers the legacy FMBooth (Windows + iPadOS) software. FMBooth (Windows + iPadOS) has been replaced by FMX. See FMX documentation →

Overview

This guide demonstrates how to generate personalized thumbnail images for your presets using Microsoft's built-in Snipping Tool application, enabling better visual organization within the Multi Presets selection interface.

Key Concept

Changing your Photo Layout design does not change your thumbnail presentation. Thumbnails function as visual identifiers helping users recognize presets while browsing the Presets tab and Multi Presets Selection Screen.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Launch the Snipping Tool

  • Open your Windows search bar
  • Type "snipping tool"
  • Click to open the application

Step 2: Prepare Your Layout

Ensure your Photo Layout tab is open before proceeding to the next step.

Step 3: Capture Your Image

  • Press the "New" button within the Snipping Tool
  • Use your mouse to select and capture the desired section of your screen

Step 4: Save Your Thumbnail

The captured image can be saved as either a PNG or JPG file for use as your custom thumbnail.

Why This Matters

The Snipping Tool provides a straightforward method for creating visual representations of your presets without requiring external software, making it an accessible solution for customizing your workspace appearance.
