Editing Asset Attributes
After uploading assets to your Foto Master Cloud library, you may need to update their details, change how they're categorized, or replace the file entirely. This article covers how to view and edit asset attributes.
Viewing Asset Details
To view the details of any asset in your library:
- Navigate to Assets from the left-hand menu.
- Browse or search for the asset you want to inspect.
- Click on the asset thumbnail or name to open its detail view.
The detail view displays:
- Preview -- A visual preview of the asset (image, animation, or layout).
- File Name -- The original file name.
- Asset Name -- The display name (which may differ from the file name).
- Type -- The asset category (overlay, background, animation, layout, logo).
- File Format -- The file type (PNG, JPG, GIF, MP4, etc.).
- File Size -- The size of the asset file.
- Dimensions -- Width and height in pixels (for image and video assets).
- Upload Date -- When the asset was added to the library.
- Tags -- Any tags assigned to the asset.
- Folder -- The folder where the asset is stored.
Changing Asset Name, Category, and Tags
To edit an asset's attributes:
- Open the asset's detail view.
- Click Edit (or the pencil icon).
- Modify any of the following fields:
Name
- Update the display name to something more descriptive or consistent with your naming convention.
- The display name is what you see when browsing your library and selecting assets in workflows.
Category
- Change the asset type if it was incorrectly categorized during upload.
- Available categories: Overlay, Background, Animation, Layout, Logo.
- Changing the category affects how the asset appears in filtered views and where it shows up when building workflows.
Tags
- Add new tags to improve searchability.
- Remove tags that are no longer relevant.
- Edit existing tags to fix typos or standardize naming.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
Tip: Batch editing is available for multiple assets. Select several assets using the checkboxes, then click Bulk Edit to apply the same tags, category, or folder assignment to all selected items at once.
Setting Asset Visibility
You can control whether an asset is visible and available for use in workflows:
- Visible (default) -- The asset appears in your library and is available for selection in workflows and layouts.
- Hidden -- The asset is stored in your library but does not appear in selection lists when building workflows. Useful for seasonal assets you want to keep but not clutter your active library.
To change visibility:
- Open the asset's detail view.
- Click Edit.
- Toggle the Visibility setting.
- Click Save.
Hidden assets can be found by toggling the "Show Hidden" filter in your asset library view.
Tip: Instead of deleting seasonal or client-specific assets, set them to hidden when they're not needed. This keeps your active library clean while preserving assets for future use.
Replacing an Asset File
If you need to update an asset (for example, a revised version of an overlay or an updated logo), you can replace the file without losing its associated settings:
- Open the asset's detail view.
- Click Replace File (or the upload icon next to the file preview).
- Select the new file from your computer.
- Confirm the replacement.
When you replace an asset file:
- The asset retains its name, tags, category, and folder assignment.
- Any workflows or presets that reference this asset will automatically use the new file.
- The previous version is replaced and cannot be recovered.
Tip: If you want to keep both versions of an asset, upload the new version as a separate asset instead of replacing the original.
