Custom Domains (Pro Plan)

Updated Today · 3 min read

By default, your online galleries are hosted on the cloud.fotomaster.com domain. With a Pro plan subscription, you can use your own custom domain instead -- so your galleries appear at an address like gallery.yourbrand.com. This creates a seamless, fully branded experience for your clients and their guests.

What Custom Domains Do

A custom domain replaces the default Foto Master Cloud URL with your own branded domain name. Instead of guests visiting:

cloud.fotomaster.com/gallery/your-event

They'll visit:

gallery.yourbrand.com/your-event

This means:

  • Professional appearance -- Your gallery URLs match your brand, not a third-party platform.
  • Client confidence -- Clients see your domain, reinforcing that this is your service.
  • Marketing consistency -- All your materials (business cards, website, proposals) can reference your own domain.
  • Complete white-label -- When combined with branding customizations, guests have no indication that a third-party platform is involved.

Requirements

To use custom domains, you need:

  • An active Pro plan subscription.
  • A domain name that you own and can configure DNS records for.
  • Access to your domain's DNS management panel (through your domain registrar or hosting provider).

DNS Setup (CNAME Record)

To point your custom domain to Foto Master Cloud, you'll create a CNAME record in your DNS settings:

  1. Log into your domain registrar or DNS provider (e.g., GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap, Google Domains).
  2. Navigate to the DNS management section for your domain.
  3. Add a new CNAME record with the following values:
    • Name / Host -- The subdomain you want to use (e.g., gallery for gallery.yourbrand.com).
    • Type -- CNAME
    • Value / Points to -- The target domain provided by Foto Master Cloud (shown in your Cloud dashboard under Settings > Custom Domain).
    • TTL -- 3600 (or leave as default).
  4. Save the DNS record.

DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to propagate globally, though most changes take effect within 1-2 hours.

Tip: If you're unsure how to edit DNS records, contact your domain registrar's support team. They can walk you through the process for their specific platform.

SSL Certificate Handling

Foto Master Cloud automatically provisions and manages an SSL certificate for your custom domain:

  • Once your CNAME record is active and pointing to the Foto Master servers, an SSL certificate is generated automatically.
  • The certificate ensures that your gallery is served over HTTPS, providing a secure connection for your guests.
  • Certificate renewal is handled automatically -- you don't need to manage it.
  • The SSL provisioning process may take a few minutes after DNS propagation is complete.

No action is required from you regarding SSL. The platform handles everything once the DNS is configured correctly.

Verification Steps

After configuring your DNS, verify the custom domain in your Cloud dashboard:

  1. Log into cloud.fotomaster.com.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Custom Domain.
  3. Enter your custom domain (e.g., gallery.yourbrand.com).
  4. Click Verify.
  5. The system checks that your CNAME record is correctly configured and points to the Foto Master servers.

Verification results:

  • Verified -- Your custom domain is active and ready to use. Galleries will now be accessible at your custom domain.
  • Pending -- DNS changes have been detected but haven't fully propagated. Wait a bit and try verifying again.
  • Failed -- The CNAME record was not found or is misconfigured. Double-check your DNS settings and ensure the record matches the values provided.

Once verified, all your galleries will be accessible through your custom domain. Existing gallery links using the default cloud.fotomaster.com domain will continue to work alongside your custom domain.

Tip: After verification, update your printed materials, website, and email templates to use the new custom domain URLs. This ensures a consistent branded experience across all touchpoints.
