TV Display \ No Signal Troubleshooting

Updated Yesterday · 1 min read

This guide helps you troubleshoot display issues on your computer's TV/monitor. First, make sure the TV is powered. If it doesn't turn on, try a different power outlet.

Steps

  1. Make sure the HDMI cable is connected (one end to the computer and the other end to the TV).
  2. Using the TV remote, try to change the input (HDMI 1/2) and see if the display is fixed.
  3. Try a different HDMI port on the TV and check the HDMI input again.
  4. On the computer, right-click anywhere on the desktop → Display settings. On the Multiple Displays section, make sure Duplicate these displays is selected (Extended display is also an option, as long as Show only 1 or Show only 2 is not selected).
  5. Replace the HDMI cord.
  6. Run a Display Adapter update:
    • In the search bar, type Device Manager and open the app.
    • Open the Display Adapter section.
    • Right-click on each device, select Update Driver, and choose Search Automatically.
  7. Run Windows Update and your PC's vendor updates (for example, a Dell computer has the Dell SupportAssist tool).
  8. If the issue continues, test with a different TV, or try the same TV with a different computer.
