Choosing the Right Settings for a Photo Mosaic Wall Activation

Legacy Article: This article covers the legacy Photo Mosaic Wall software. The next generation — PMWall — is coming soon.

Overview

This guide explains how to configure a photo mosaic wall activation using the Mosaic tab, which transforms a main image into a tiled composition made from individual photos.

Key Settings

Columns × Rows

Define the grid dimensions for your mosaic. This determines how many tiles create the final image -- essentially functioning like pixels. Higher values produce more detailed results but require more source photos.

Tile Opacity

Controls transparency levels from 0% (completely transparent) to 100% (fully opaque).

  • Default: 70%
  • Lower opacity values make the main image clearer but reduce the visual impact of individual tiles
  • This parameter requires balancing between clarity and natural appearance

Colorization Correction

Adjusts how the algorithm applies dominant colors across tiles.

  • 0%: No color spreading occurs, preventing "color bleed" around defined lines like text
  • 100%: Tiles become fully colorized with smooth color transitions
  • Default: 25%

Scatter

Controls randomization of tile placement within same-color areas.

  • 0%: The algorithm selects optimal positions for each tile
  • 100%: Placement becomes completely random regardless of fit quality
  • Default: 0%

Balances precision with visual interest.

Practical Example

Standard activation settings:

  • Grid: 25 × 25
  • Opacity: 70%
  • Colorization: 25%
  • Scatter: 0%

Produces clear, well-organized results.
