Everything at a photo booth event — the look of the experience, the on-screen text, the animations, the email guests receive, what shows on the external display — is something you control in FMX for iPad. This guide maps out every customization area, so you know exactly where to go.
Start from a Preset (The Fastest Way to Customize)
You don't have to build from scratch. FMX includes a library of ready-made presets — fully built experiences with a workflow, overlays, animations, and sharing settings already configured. The idea is simple: pick one that's close to what you want, then make it yours.
In the Select screen, browse and load any preset. Then open the Workflow Builder and start editing: swap the countdown animation, replace the overlay image, update the on-screen text, change AI prompts, or add a new step. Every element of a preset is editable.
💡 Tip: Starting from a preset and customising it takes a fraction of the time of building from zero — and the results are often just as polished. Most operators save their first custom build as their own preset and reuse it across events.
Branding & Appearance
Set the overall look of FMX for iPad — background images, color themes, button styles, and the visual identity shown to guests during a session.

Design multi-photo strips, collages, and print templates using the Layout Builder — the same tool used on FMX for Windows. Drag and drop photo frames, set spacing, add borders, and define the output size.
💡 Tip: A clean 2×6 branded strip with your logo is always a crowd-pleaser. The Layout Builder also supports portrait grids, square formats, and panoramic layouts.
Overlays, Frames & Custom Assets
Upload your own overlays, branded frames, and graphics that appear on top of every photo. This article covers every asset type, the exact required dimensions, and supported file formats.
💡 Tip: Always test your overlay at the actual photo resolution before the event. A frame that looks great on your screen may have alignment issues on the final output if the aspect ratio doesn't match.

Animations & Workflow
Customise the full guest journey from start to finish — add countdown animations, transition effects, interactive steps, and branded on-screen text using the Workflow Builder. You can update button labels, swap animations, change AI prompts, and add or remove steps.
💡 Tip: A branded countdown animation (your logo building up, or a fun reveal effect) transforms the moment just before the photo is taken. Guests notice it every time.

Selection Screen
Customise the screen guests use to review and choose their photo. Set a branded background video or image, and control the options shown.
💡 Tip: A looping branded video as the selection screen background keeps the energy going while guests decide — it's a small detail that makes the whole experience feel more cohesive.

Email, SMS & Sharing
Configure how guests receive their photo after the session — sharing method, email and SMS message content, and gallery options. This is often the part guests keep and share with others, so it's worth personalising.
💡 Tip: Include the event name in the SMS or email subject. A message that says "Your photo from [Client Name]'s event is ready" feels intentional and on-brand, not generic.
