FMX for iPad: Appearance Settings
The Appearance tab in FMX iPad Global Settings controls the visual look and feel of the booth interface. These settings determine theme colors, branding elements, and display preferences that guests see during the experience.
Theme and Branding
Appearance settings let you customize the booth's visual identity to match your brand or your client's event:
- Primary color -- The dominant accent color used throughout the booth UI, including buttons, highlights, and interactive elements
- Background style -- Configure the background appearance for screens between workflow steps
- Logo and branding assets -- Add a custom logo or branding image that appears on the booth interface
Tip: Keep your branding consistent with the event's overall look. If you have designed overlays and layouts in the Cloud dashboard, match the Appearance settings to complement those designs rather than compete with them.
UI Layout Options
The Appearance tab provides controls for how the booth interface is structured:
- Button sizing and spacing -- Adjust the size and spacing of interactive elements for comfortable touch targets on different iPad screen sizes
- Text and label styling -- Customize font sizes and text appearance for on-screen instructions and labels
- Element visibility -- Show or hide specific UI elements depending on your booth's workflow and design
Display Preferences
Additional display settings fine-tune the guest experience:
- Screen brightness control -- Manage brightness behavior during the booth experience
- Status bar visibility -- Control whether the iPad status bar is visible during the experience
- Orientation -- Configure the expected display orientation for your booth setup
Tip: Test your appearance settings with actual guests or colleagues before the event. What looks good on a design screen may feel different when someone is standing in front of the booth interacting with the touch interface.
Relationship to Cloud Themes
The Appearance settings on the iPad control the local app's UI elements. Event-specific visual assets -- such as overlays, photo layouts, and animation screens -- are defined in the Cloud dashboard and downloaded during sync. The two work together:
- Cloud defines event-specific creative assets (overlays, layouts, screens)
- Appearance settings define the app-level UI styling (colors, branding, layout behavior)
Changing Appearance settings does not affect your Cloud-defined assets, and vice versa.
