White Lines on the Printout / Printout Cutting Off — Troubleshooting

This guide covers two common print quality problems: white lines appearing across the printout, and the printout being cut off on one side.

White Lines on the Printout

White lines across the paper are usually caused by one of three things:

1. Overlay size mismatch

Make sure your overlay's Width and Height values match the Photo Layout Width and Height, and that it is centered — the overlay Top and Left values should both be 0.

2. Page padding needed

If the overlay is centered correctly but lines still appear, add page padding in the printer settings: go to Settings → Printer and adjust the padding values.

3. Media or printer hardware issue

If white lines appear randomly across the paper (not in a consistent location), this is likely a media or printer hardware issue.

  • For DNP printers: check the DNP support resources for head cleaning procedures specific to your model.
  • Try a new media set from a fresh box to rule out bad ribbon or paper stock.
  • If the issue persists across multiple media sets, the print head may need cleaning or servicing — contact support.

Printout Cutting Off

If the printout is being cut off on one side:

  1. Verify that the layout dimensions match the paper size selected in the printer settings.
  2. Check that the paper is loaded straight and centered in the printer tray.
  3. In FMX, go to Global Settings → Printer and confirm the paper size matches the loaded media.
  4. Try adjusting page margins/padding to bring the content inward.

If the issue persists, submit a support ticket with a photo of the printout and your current layout dimensions.
