Pre-Event Checklist

Updated 5 days ago · 2 min read

This checklist helps make sure your booth is fully prepared before an event. Working through these steps reduces the risk of issues during operation and helps prevent setup and runtime problems.

System Check

  • Confirm FMX is updated to the latest stable version.
  • Close any unnecessary background applications.

Printer Validation

  • Confirm the printer is powered on and connected.
  • Verify that the correct paper and ribbon are installed.
  • Ensure the correct printer is set as the default printer in Windows.

To set your default printer in Windows:

  1. Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
  2. Select your printer, then scroll down and click More devices and printer settings.
  3. In the Devices and Printers window, locate your printer, right-click it, and select Set as default printer.

Then confirm the correct printer is selected in FMX settings, and run test prints:

  • One 4×6 print.
  • One 2×6 print (if applicable).

Check that:

  • The print size is correct.
  • The cutting behavior is proper (for 2×6).
  • There are no delays or errors.

Camera Validation

  • Connect the camera before launching FMX.
  • Open FMX and confirm the camera is detected.
  • Take multiple test photos.

Check that:

  • Focus is correct.
  • Exposure and brightness are consistent.
  • No disconnects occur.

USB & Connection Stability

Connect critical devices directly to the computer when possible, including:

  • Camera
  • USB touch controller
  • LED ring (if applicable)

Other devices (such as keyboard, mouse, or non-critical accessories) can be connected through a USB hub if needed.

  • Ensure all cables are secure and not under tension.
  • Replace any cables showing inconsistent behavior.

Power & Sleep Settings

  • Disable system sleep mode.
  • Disable USB power-saving settings.
  • Ensure camera auto power-off is disabled.

Layout & Output Check

  • Confirm the correct layout is selected in FMX.
  • Ensure the layout matches the intended print size (2×6 or 4×6).
  • Verify overlays and branding appear correctly.

Final Test Run

Run a full session from start to finish: Capture → Review → Print.

Confirm:

  • The workflow runs smoothly.
  • No delays or errors occur.

Ready for Event

  • Keep spare paper and ribbons nearby.
  • Avoid changing settings during the event unless necessary.
  • If changes are made, run a quick test before resuming.
