How to Create FMSlide Template

Updated 5 days ago · 1 min readIntermediate

FMSlide templates define how media is presented on the slideshow screen. A template can include the display style, timing, background, and branding choices used for an event.

Plan the Display

Before building the template, confirm:

  • Screen orientation: landscape or portrait
  • Screen resolution
  • Whether photos, videos, or both will be displayed
  • Client branding requirements
  • Background color or image
  • How long each item should remain on screen

Use the same display or resolution that will be used at the event whenever possible.

Create the Template

  1. Open FMSlide.
  2. Select the relevant event.
  3. Open the slideshow settings or template area.
  4. Choose the media source and media types.
  5. Select the transition effects.
  6. Set the display duration.
  7. Add background and branding settings.
  8. Save the template with a clear event or client name.

If the template is for repeat use, use a generic name and duplicate it for each client event.

Test the Template

Load several sample files and check:

  • Photos are not cropped in an unexpected way.
  • Videos play correctly.
  • Branding is visible but does not cover faces or important content.
  • Transitions feel smooth on the event computer.
  • Text or graphics are readable from the expected viewing distance.

Event Checklist

Before guests arrive:

  1. Open the saved template.
  2. Select the correct event and media source.
  3. Confirm new event media is appearing.
  4. Enter full-screen mode on the display screen.
  5. Leave FMSlide running until the event ends.
