Draw Me Bot: Event Setup and Operation

Updated Yesterday · 1 min readBeginner

Use this event checklist to run the Draw Me Bot during a live activation. The goal is to finish setup before guests arrive, keep the queue moving, and catch drawing or hardware issues early.

Before Guests Arrive

  1. Place the robot and tray on a stable surface.
  2. Connect the power and USB.
  3. Open DMBot and select the event.
  4. Confirm the photo source is working.
  5. Load paper and pens.
  6. Calibrate Z-height and paper position.
  7. Run a full test drawing.
  8. Confirm the drawing queue updates correctly.
  9. Confirm staff know how to pause, retry, and clear completed drawings.

During the Event

Keep the Drawing Management screen visible. Watch for:

  • Pending drawings are building up
  • Failed jobs
  • Robot connection status
  • Pen pressure or ink issues
  • Paper placement drift
  • Guests are waiting for completed drawings

If the queue grows too long, simplify the art style, reduce drawing detail, or adjust the event flow so guests receive realistic wait-time expectations.

After Each Drawing

  1. Remove the finished paper carefully.
  2. Load the next sheet in the same position.
  3. Mark the robot available if auto-availability is not enabled.
  4. Confirm the next job starts.

With auto paper replacement, confirm the pump bot is loaded, calibrated, and tested before enabling continuous operation.

End of Event

  1. Finish or cancel remaining jobs as needed.
  2. Save any required event media.
  3. Power down the robot.
  4. Pack the robot, cables, pens, and paper separately.
  5. Note any calibration, connection, or queue issues for follow-up.
